ROOSTER HEAD ON A RAINY SIDEWALK, Mexico City 2012

I think that the Mexicans are pretty immune to such images. But as I was walking down the street in the rain and saw this rooster head it struck me as, well at first surprising but also very beautiful like an old classical still-life painting. There was the rooster head, which looked like it was singing, and some feathers but the body gone. it reeked of murder… The funny thing was that its counterpart lay nearby… the head of a female.
INSTALLATION AT THE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM, Mexico City 2012

Well… its not REALLY an installation at the Guggenheim but WTF it should be. I want to be a curator and just take these found objects/spaces and put them somewhere. This was in front of a parking lot, I guess for the parking attendant to sit on. But it has very bizarre elements to it which bring visions of torture to my mind. The rope wound around the back of the chair alongside a piece of black string. The piece of wood sticking out like a baton. The red flag. The paint drips. The red arrow. The cigarette butts littering the floor. The white plastic spoon. The peeling seat cushion with the gray Joseph Beuys felt innards…
COW SKULL, Mexico City 2012

I spotted this cow skull with flesh remnants still hanging on it as I was headed two blocks from my flat to the market.
